*Ahem*…Welcome all to whats soon to be the most lackluster, slacked on, unfullfilling blogs on all of “the internets”. This is usually the part where I would introduce myself, yadda yadda yadda, but thats what my Myspace page is for and chances are if you’re reading this, its b/c you saw me promote the site in a bulletin or something so lets skip that step.
Pretty much, long story short…I’ve never been a big fan of blogs. Most of them suck, very few of them don’t (you can check those on the blogroll, if you didnt make the cut…then you already know.) and everybody, I mean eeeeeeeeverybody has one now-a-days. It’s kind of borderline narcissistic actually but fug it, we live in a narcissistic world that’s one big popularity contest anyway but I digress…Being sort of “anti-blog” myself I always told myself I wouldn’t fall into starting a blog…and even tho that’s exactly what I did as you can see, my ego and I have compromised on a couple of things before starting what you see before you…
1. Not going to be a Hip Hop News blog. Too many of those and in my opinion unless you’re Nah Right…nobody cares…or you’re stealing your news from Nah Right anyways so whats the point.
2. I’ll blog when I want to blog damn it! Not going to update this every second some half ass headline scrolls across a news ticker, bookmark this page if you enjoy reading along whenever I do update but in all honesty it probably won’t be alot since…
3. Music artists and Blogs don’t mix. I’d be a fool not to learn from other artists’ mistakes of typing before their brains process exactly what their fingers are saying. I’ve seen it happen one too many times, said artist gets blog, said artist gets into some sort of predicament, said artist says something he/she will regret in the future, said artist either tries to save face, cracks under pressure of internet ridicule, says they’ll quit whatever “art” they’re a part of and said artist comes back 2 weeks later. There is no winning on an internet argument, and there is no saving face once you’ve come off ign’ant online either. I understand this therefore I won’t be replying to all comments and such on here but I will read some if I get bored I guess :P.
3 1/2. Music artists and Blogs don’t mix also b/c to me…blogging kills creativity. It is wayyy too easy to just get on a blog and type your heart out about an experience you’ve just gone thru. It’s 24/7/365 (…366 in a leap year), the internet takes no days off and its very very easy to wind up blogging about what you’ve just gone thru rather than save it for what could be a potential great song that someone will relate to b/c there is always someone out there who shares a similar story and they might not have “the internets” but can come across that song and feel the shit out of it! If I got on here and blogged about every little thing that happened through out the day, I’d have to write rhymes about bloggin about shit…and thats corny.
See…this is already too dragging on, so pretty much what I will be posting is just random stuff that I like, Music/Fashion/Sports/Movie related blahzay blahzay blah…shit I usually just post up in a bulletin on my Myspace anyway just now they have a more permanent home to live in and can reach anyone off Myspace as well I suppose. I’ll post up personal stuff about my own creative process now and then I guess (shiiiiet…ask kobe, ain’t nothing wrong with a little Shameless Promotion every now and then!).
So enjoy, hope you stick around, bookmark the page…I dunno, tell a friend to tell a friend that MONTRO is at it again! Holla! :]
